Isaiah 42Hello All
In Isaiah 42, the first seven verses prophecy the coming of Jesus:
1: Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.
2: He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street.
3: A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.
4: He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.
5: Thus saith God the LORD, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:
6: I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;
7: To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.
[Isaiah ; 42:1-7]
In the Bible there is only one human that is named Kedar, the grandson of Ishmael:
These are their generations: The firstborn of Ishmael, Nebaioth; then Kedar, and Adbeel, and Mibsam,
[ 1 Chronicles ; 1:29]
The Land where Kedarites had settled is called Arabia. The prophecy for the coming of a new prophet in Arabia with a new scripture, begins with verse number eight:
8: I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.
9: Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them.
10: Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants thereof.
11: Let the wilderness and the cities thereof lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar doth inhabit: let the inhabitants of the rock sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains.
12: Let them give glory unto the LORD, and declare his praise in the islands.
13: The LORD shall go forth as a mighty man, he shall stir up jealousy like a man of war: he shall cry, yea, roar; he shall prevail against his enemies.
[Isaiah ; 42:8-14]
-> God revealed in the Land of Kedar to prophet Muhammad (who is a descendant of Kedar) a New Song, the Quran, in the language of the Kedarites. The verses of the Quran are recited like a poem. Nearly 1.5 billion Muslims residing all over the world, recite this new song and glorify Allah in their daily prayers, five times in a day. The initial Revelation came to prophet Muhammad in a cave of a mountain near the city of Mecca and during the annual Islamic Pilgrimage called Hajj, Muslims from all over the world assemble in Mecca and declare Glory to the Lord from the top of mount Arafat.
-> There is no doubt that Prophet Muhammad is known as a mighty prophet of Allah and he did stir up jealousy among the most influential and dominating tribe of the pagan Arabs in Arabia: he shall stir up jealousy like a man of war: he shall cry, yea, roar; he shall prevail against his enemies
In the OT, the God often speaks I will do this, or I have done this, whereas in the above passages, He has chosen a human being to do these jobs on his behalf. The LORD shall go forth as a mighty man . Here is an example to the God saying, I Did such and such:
7: And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul;
8: And I gave thee thy master's house, and thy master's wives into thy bosom, and gave thee the house of Israel and of Judah; and if that had been too little, I would moreover have given unto thee such and such things.
9: Wherefore hast thou despised the commandment of the LORD, to do evil in his sight? thou hast killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and hast taken his wife to be thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon.
10: Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thine house; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife.
11: Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thine own house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes, and give them unto thy neighbour, and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun.
12: For thou didst it secretly: but I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun.
[2 Samuel ; 12:7-12]

Interesting proposition, Ahmed. But would you edit it to make the quotes of smaller size? They are so large, it's hard to read. Thanks. I won't reply to this, I post too much already, and got secular work to do. But I will read and think over what you've written. Thanks.

Actually I believe it is speaking about Isaiah himself. This is confirmed just a little further down with this verse:
Isa 42:19 Who is blind but My servant? Or deaf, as My Messenger whom I have sent? Who is blind as he who is perfect, and blind as Jehovah's servant?
The Messenger he speaks of had already been sent.

No, Allah isn't telling Isaiah anything. Isaiah is telling Isaiah.
The Islamic god of Allah does not exist in the Hebrew scriptures, nor in the Christian ones. You each have your own god created by your own prophets.
See how great it is? Now you don't have to fight over your gods, since you each have one of you own.
If anyone else would like a god, just send me a PM. I'll whip up one in a couple minutes.

You see, you speak from a position of faith, whereas I speak from a position of no faith at all. The problem with faith is evidence, or lack thereof. Now, to illustrate my point, what could stop any Hindu from coming in here and saying that the verse from Isaiah is speaking towards their faith?
You see, faith has a nasty habit of insinuating itself into almost anything, and the reason is because people will read into things because they will see what they want to see.
The Christians used the benefit of hindsight to select several Old Testament verses in their effort to solidify the phophethood of Jesus. Muslims do the exact same thing; they will use the Torah and Gospels and read into them in an effort to solidify the prophethood of Muhammad.
The truth is, anybody can do this. I can find old Torah verses that foretell my coming, your coming, and anyone''s future arrival on this earth. It's not magic at all, it's just a very simple thing to do.
You are taking that verse of Isaiah on "faith," but I read it from the view of a realist. Since no god has ever been proven to exist, then the only evidence that does exist is Isaiah is speaking and writing about himself.

Yes, I will demonstrate, but not with myself because my name is so well known that I can literally pick out 100s of bible verses that could apply to that name because it is a widely known Christian name. My name appears in the bible 133 times.
So let us pick someone else. Let's pick Osama bin Laden, okay?
Predictions of Osama bin Laden's attack on the World Trade Center:
| Quote: |
Eze 26:17 And they shall take up a mourning for you, and say to you, "How you who lived by the sea are destroyed, the famous city which was strong in the sea, she and her people who caused their terror to be on all who lived in it!"
Isa 30:25 And there shall be on every high mountain, and on every high hill, rivers, streams of waters in the day of the great slaughter, when the Towers fall.
Zep 3:6 I have cut off the nations; their Towers are ruined. I made their streets waste, so that none passes by; their cities are laid waste, without a man, there being no inhabitant. |
The famous city of New York, with its Manhattan Island sitting on the sea. In the above description, God predicts the fall of the Twin Towers in Manhattan, New York. Everything was cut off because all air traffic was grounded to a halt. The streets of Manhattan were laid to waste with debris so much that for days no one could walk on them. The city was virtually shut down because no one could breath through the dust and debris. It was a very great slaughter of thousands of people.
Praise Allah!

Hello, I may be new here. But what you do is nothing new to me.
I have noticed a trend in Islamic fundamentalists that I believe reflects the nature of their soul. They are belligerent, self righteous, and, insultingly judgmental to the point where you feel they would want to kill someone if they say something bad enough to offend them. What does that tell you about Allah? For worshipers reflect the one they worship.
Islam was created in a desire to satisfy the lusts and needs of a certain type of soul that was not finding satisfaction with the religions of the day.
Christians who reject God's grace because they are proud suffer from a similar problem; as seen in how they must recreate Christianity... as seen in the following passage...
2 Timothy 4:3 (New International Version)
"For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear."
That proclaims that Christians who reject sound doctrine will seek out teachers who will tell them things to please the natural preferences of their soul. They refuse to take up their cross and deny self in order to become transformed into the likeness of Christ in God's love... which only comes by means of truth being made alive in the soul of the one learning sound doctrinal teaching by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Now? The Arabs back then who did not want anything to do with Christianity? Yet, felt they needed religion as to not be looked down upon by those who had faith? Their collective soul cried out to the heavens for something to believe in. Christianity was distasteful to their way of thinking. The result?
Allah was manifested as a means to appeal to the soul of those Arabs who denied Christ. He created a religion that justified belligerence, and called it righteousness. He justified killer lust, and called it Jihad. In other words? In order to counter the powerful Christian movement that was moving the world in a new direction? Allah stepped in to counter the Spirit of God, and in to do so... claimed to be God. A God who was nothing like the God of Abraham.
God's Word is right... This is the kind of soul Allah was introduced for.
[size=10]Genesis 16:10-12 (New International Version)
"The angel added, "I will so increase your descendants that they will be too numerous to count."
The angel of the LORD also said to her:
"You are now with child
and you will have a son.
You shall name him Ishmael,
for the LORD has heard of your misery.
He will be a wild donkey of a man;
his hand will be against everyone
and everyone's hand against him,
and he will live in hostility
toward all his brothers."
Islam was created as to fill the void cried out for in the wild donkey nature in certain Arabs who reject Christ. The descendants of Ishmael. Belligerence, arrogance, self righteousness, and threats of murder against the infidels are the norm for the donkey man's way of dealing with others. The Bible was right.
We see it today in the arrogant threatening, insulting ways of the Muslims who want to dominate all others by force and threats of destruction if you refuse to convert to Allah.
Jesus died to save man from sins. The Muslim would want us all to die if they think we sin against what they want everyone to believe in. Allah is not the same God. Allah is mean in getting what he wants.
You can try and call me a liar. But the belligerent, self righteous and insulting attitude you manifest with those who do not believe what you want them to believe, says I speak the truth.

You need to relax a little dude. He's talking about Jesus from the Bible, not the other Jesus in the Quran.
You see, there are three different Jesus'. The Muslim one, the Christian one, and the one I know.
Now, you believe in the Muslim version of Jesus. Hey that''s cool, and he never died on the cross, or anything like that. But the Christian Jesus got nailed to the cross, died, and came back to life.
See? Everybody has got their own Jesus, so I don't know why you're fighting over it. If you guys keep it up I'm going to take my Jesus and go home!

Allah must keep you under his thumb by keep reminding you of your sinfulness and the need to do good deeds to outweigh your badness. If the real Jesus caught on with the Arab world? That your sins have been paid for!? Allah could not use Islam to try and kill off all the Jews.
For the people would be freed the obsessive fear and enslavement they feel concerning their eternal state. As it is right now, you must work to try and earn your way to heaven. For, in a sense, your sins must be paid for by yourself. And, you can never be sure you are going to heaven until after you die.
Think about it.. If there were no Jew alive on earth when Jesus returns?
God is proven to be a liar.
He could not keep his promise to the patriarchs and the fathers of His Kingdom on earth with Jerusalem as the capital of the new world. Jews must be alive when Jesus returns to do this.
Now? If God is proven to be such a liar? That the Jews will not survive? Satan does not have to go to the Lake of fire. For, if God is proven to be a liar? God has no right to judge anyone based upon his word, that he declares that he is right in all his judgments.
So?
That is why we have seen throughout history various conspiracies to kill off the Jews. Why? Satan wants to stay alive and be freed of his sentence to burn forever.
Interesting enough... Allah also wants all Jews dead before Christ can return.
Right now he is holding most of his cards in Iran. Allah and Satan, agree. All Jews must die!
Hitler who showed some brilliance, failed Satan's scheme. So now, its a time of deceit and desperation to try to save his own skin from the flames with another strategy. Can all the Jews be annihilated before Christ returns to set up the promised Millennium?
That is why the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is in an annihilation pact to destroy Israel. For, Satan does not care anything for those who worship him under his pen name. He will have them all killed off too just as easily, if that's what it takes so he can manipulate them to kill off the Jews of the world.
Satan wants only to save his own selfish skin. He will use anyone he can to do it with. The more arrogant, self righteous, and belligerent a people are? The more he will try to use them for his benefit.
"God so loved the world, that he will have you murdered if you refuse to believe. "
Nice God you have there.

You need to calm down and be careful with your language. Are you so afraid of Allah that everything must be taken with such extreme seriousness?
Must your words express such disdain and hatred? I was a Muslim, but I was not like that. I would not use such harsh words towards anyone.
If God represents love and other great qualities to you, then reflect those qualities upon others. Do not reflect hatred and didain towards anyone, for that is from the Shaitan.
Be a reflection of God, not of Shaitan.

After men believe in Allah? They no longer have terror in their soul? A deep fear that they might fail in pleasing Allah, and end up in hell after they decided to follow after Allah?
Muslims still live in fear AFTER they turn to Allah. They have no peace in their souls. He offers no peace. He never guarantees they will be not sent to Hell. They escape feeling this fear by turning their eyes to the infidels and mock and hate in attempts to make themselves feel more righteous.
Here's the difference:
Jesus warned about hell for not believing in Him.
Allah warns of hell after you believe in him.
Huge difference..

Agreed. Hell is wrong no matter what you're sent to it for, and the fact that a religion can talk of it is immediately enough to discount that religion. It's a great shame that Christianity preaches it, especially since it is meant to be far milder than the OT, yet the OT doesn't speak of perdition at all!

This is referring to living in the now. Most people's minds are actually in a combination of past and future, which are things that don't actually exist, and their minds ignore what actually DOES exist, which is the present moment which goes on and on and on and on....Remember, when the future arrives, it is no longer the future but rather the present moment. So in that respect, the future actually never arrives and is instead, merely a mental construct of ours whether it be an accurate one or an inaccurate one. It is an expectation, not a reality.

Of course, there is. Jesus was a poor fella. You are comparing Apple with a wild Berry. Christ was just a man with a wrong name, a name that he would not even respond to, if he ever comes back, which I am sure will never happen. Allah is the name for God Almighty and Jesus or Christ is the name of a man born of a woman.
Would you compare Jesus with Yehuvah? If you do, that would be a ridiculous attempt. He was not even the "father". Remember that the 'son' is not the 'father' and also, that the 'son' is not the 'holy spirit'. Those are distinct three. Do you know what it means? It means the 'son' was just a man, nothingelse.

Oh, they do. They compare with an egg also. If that doesn't work, a cube of ice will do.
It really looks so silly, Ahmad, when these folks start comparing a man with God. And forget to keep in mind that the man earlier had reprimanded one not to even call him good.
This is one place where the authors who penned the gospels forgot to write the word God instead of good. lol! May be 100 years from people will read in the NT,"God teacher." instead of "Good teacher". It is a slow process but will happen one day.

Fruit-cake or no, the Bible treats Isaiah 42 as referring to Christ, and He was indicted and executed for that, Luke 9:35, 1Peter 2:4, Matthew 3:17 (origin), Matt17:5, Mark 1:11, Luke 3:22. Corroboration is in Isa11:2, 59:1, 61:1, to name a few. This is a prophecy of MESSIAH WHO PAYS FOR SINS, Filled with the Holy Spirit. It predates the fruit-cake Qu'ran by 1400 years, beginning with Isaiah.
Now it was consistent in the text of Bible, remains so even to this day. So which fruit-cake idea is the original one? Bible's. And Qu'ran never makes the claim that Isaiah predicted Muhammed, only stupid Muslims do that. For the hmd root is very common, and so you must read the context to know what it means. Any fruitcake would know that.

Could you please differentiate your fruit-cake from the Jewish Holy Scriptures by calling your Bible as the The Christian Bible and call the Jewish Holy Scriptures as The Jewish Bible.
This is necessary in order to avoid confusion because the Jews do not recognise your fruit-cake. Isaiah in the Christians' Bible is another fruit-cake within a fruit-cake, not baked to perfection.
By the way, could you show us from your Isaiah 42 fruit-cake, where does it mention anything about this slave WHO PAYS FOR THE SINS"?

BMZ, it's all the SAME Bible. There are many things you Muslims don't understand.
1. Bible is the SAME TEXT for Judaism or Christianity. Doesn't mean we all ACCEPT it equally, we don't. But we all agree on what the text IS. We just disagree on whether we believe in it.
2. God-Man is ONE PERSON, two natures. I made a video on it, but here's the gist: When Christ talks from His Human Nature, He talks like a man; when from His Divine Nature, He talks like God. It's the SAME Person, but He speaks of Himself in the third person, OBJECTIVELY.
3. There are key rhetorical styles you need to know in Bible and if you don't know them, you'll misinterpret what Bible says and people will snigger behind your back like you did with Apple Pie. So do learn what they are, before you make any pronouncements on what Bible says. You can see these styles in translation, so unlike us you don't need to learn the original-language texts, first. But it would help a lot, since 50% of the Bible is MIStranslated.
Golly, I can't type using this skin either, type is too small. Be right back.

Re: Isaiah 42 | AhmedBahgat wrote: | Hello All
In Isaiah 42, the first seven verses prophecy the coming of Jesus:
6: I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;
7: And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul;
To be continued…. |
Verses 1-4 This prophecy was fulfilled in Christ, matthew 12:17. Let our souls rely on him, and rejoice in him; then, for his sake, the Father will be well-pleased with us. The Holy Spirit not only came, but rested upon him, and without measure. He patiently bore the contradiction of sinners. His kingdom is spiritual; he was not to appear with earthly honors. He is tender of those oppressed with doubts and fears, as a bruised reed; those who are as smoking flax, as the wick of a lamp newly lighted, which is ready to go out again. He will not despise them, nor lay upon them more work or more suffering than they can bear. By a long course of miracles and his resurrection, he fully showed the truth of his holy religion. By the power of his gospel and grace he fixes principles in the minds of men, which tend to make them wise and just. The most distant nations wait for his law, wait for his gospel, and shall welcome it. If we would make our calling and election sure, and have the Father delight over us for good, we must behold, hear, believe in, and obey Christ.
Verses 5-12 The work of redemption brings back man to the obedience he owes to God as his Maker. Christ is the light of the world. And by his grace he opens the understandings Satan has blinded, and sets at liberty from the bondage of sin. The Lord has supported his church. And now he makes new promises, which shall as certainly be fulfilled as the old ones were. When the Gentiles are brought into the church, he is glorified in them and by them. Let us give to God those things which are his, taking heed that we do not serve the creature more than the Creator.
Verses 13-17 The Lord will appear in his power and glory. He shall cry, in the preaching of his word. He shall cry aloud in the gospel woes, which must be preached with gospel blessings, to awaken a sleeping world. He shall conquer by the power of his Spirit. And those that contradict and blaspheme his gospel, he shall put to silence and shame; and that which hinders its progress shall be taken out of the way. To those who by nature were blind, God will show the way to life and happiness by Jesus Christ. They are weak in knowledge, but He will make darkness light. They are weak in duty, but their way shall be plain. Those whom God brings into the right way, he will guide in it. This passage is a prophecy, and is also applicable to every believer; for the Lord will never leave nor forsake them.
Yes, Kedar is the second son of Ishmael This passage does not say that God's servant is from Kedar. It only says that the people of Kedar (along with the many other peoples) should rejoice. In fact, this passage is speaking about God's Messiah. In verse 1 God says He will put His Spirit on his servant, which is the essential idea of the "Messiah" (Anointed One), as in Is.61:1, "The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me...." Compare vs. 6 with Lk.2:32 and vs. 7 with Lk.4:18 to see the clear reference to Messiah Jesus.
The "new song" is not the Quran.
