Yeah, Tater, there's no room for guilt.  It was nailed away at the cross.  It's all about the personal relationship to Him, 24/7.  You stated that perspective well in your first post.  I thought I'd offer a structural perspective, intending to reinforce what you said.  People reading our posts can easily mistake our enthusiasm for a cuddly-feely kind of faith, but it's not.  It's a constant relationship, thinking toward Him, and you're doing that Smile  So I thought I'd just document in summary, why it's like that, what's the essential structure, etc.

You began the thread with (I thought) a subidea of explaining to Muslims and others why it's not unfair that we get this so-great salvation.  So I thought I'd put in a few essentials folks could ponder as they've inclination.  Some will, some won't.

I look forward to seeing you in heaven forever. Smile

I'm sure we agree on a lot more than we disagree on.  Thanks for clarifying your post.  On your last point, me too--another great adventure!

Quote:
The great mystics and masters in the East will say, "Who are YOU?" Many think the most important question in the world is: "Who is Jesus Christ?" Wrong!

Many think it is: "Does God exist?" Wrong! Many think it is: "Is there a life after death?" Wrong! Nobody seems to be grappling with the problem of: Is there a life BEFORE death? Yet my experience is that it's precisely the ones who don't know what to do with THIS life who are all hot and bothered about what they are going to do with ANOTHER life. One sign that you're awakened is that you don't give a damn about what's going to happen in the next life. You're not bothered about it; you don't care. You are not interested, period.

Do you know what eternal life is? You think it's everlasting life. But your own theologians will tell you that that is crazy, because everlasting is still within time. It is time perduring forever. Eternal means timeless no time. The human mind cannot understand that. The human mind can understand time and can deny time. What is timeless is beyond our comprehension. Yet the mystics tell us that eternity is right now. How's that for good news? It is right now. People are so distressed when I tell them to forget their past. They are so proud of their past. Or they are so ashamed of their past. They're crazy! Just drop it! When you hear "Repent for your past," realize it's a great religious distraction from waking up. Wake up! That's what repent means. Not "weep for your sins." Wake up! Understand, stop all the crying. Understand! Wake up!

There's a story that goes something like this. A woman comes to her Bishop very concerned. She claims that God talks to her and she doesn't know if she's just going crazy or not. So the Bishop has to be clever. He tells her, next time God talks to you I want you to ask him what my most personal, hidden sin is, and if he tells you the right answer, then it is God. So she comes back the following week and the Bishop asks her if God talked to her again, and she replies that he did. So he asks her if she asked the question he instructed her to ask and she says yes. So he asked her how God responded, and she said God told me to tell you that he has forgotten your sins.

I agree with much of that too.  Religion seems to keep people either secure in their ignorance or in fear of their "eternal souls".  The beauty of  a real Christian salvation is that it is already done, so no need to wallow in self pity or wonder "where you'll go" when you can die at any time.  Freedom to live your life the best you can, and rely on God to do what you can't do yourself.

What a lovely and sweet idea. I wonder how real it is though?

Well, you caught half of it, so that's cool. Better than most.

To those who've accepted it, it is...to those who don't--does it matter?
